Reality Check!

It takes 9 months to have a baby, and includes much preparation, well beyond those 9 months. Well, this week we launched the 2nd phase of the website, which was like giving birth. Our labour is a labour of love, but it has taken much help from my team, husband, friends and associates, late nights, brainstorming, moments of panic and planning every little detail. We hope you like it and look forward to watching it grow with all of the great input we have had from every mom that has helped us along the way.

The next phase is the book that is coming soon; it&rsquos like having twins but at different times. We would love your feedback and ideas on how we can help you make life easier and fun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

COOL TIPS!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With it being at the height of summer and the season for festivals, parades and large events, here is a cool safety tid-bit: Friday afternoon with my girlfriends and we were out fun-finding. When we arrived, unpacked and got our bearings, my girlfriend, Jennifer Krysa, lined up our kids and started to take pictures of each of them one by one. I thought it was kind odd & so I asked what she was up to. She told me when ever she goes to an event or large crowded area she always takes a photo with either her camera or phone, in case it should ever happen that her child goes missing at that place she will have an up-to-date photo with exactly what they were wearing when they arrived. Very cool idea; and I hope that no one needs to use the photo to find their child, but it could be well worth the time to take it.

Here's another for large crowds: If you have two children in tow, take a dog leash and attach it to your stroller and let the child hold one the other end. It gives the child a bit of walking space so the stroller wheels don't keep running over their toes, and it keeps them close while offering them a touch of independence. My son loves his "leash” and we tease him that he is in control of us, and it makes him feel like the king.

My girlfriend, Wendy - a home economics teacher, also shared a cool idea: Costco has these great big durable white table cloths for sale right now. She uses them at functions, reunions and birthday parties with a bucket of crayons and lets the kids decorate the table cloth. She also puts them on the grass and puts tempura paints in containers and lets them do a little finger or toe painting. elmer's has some tempura paints that are ready to go. She says that the grass gives it a neat texture as well. So buy a few for rainy-day projects or for your next big event or picnic.

COOL WEB SITES!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

www.savvyaunti.com for all those Aunts who like to dote on our children.

www.Instructables.ca offers many lessons on almost everything you can make with your hands. This site itself is for us adults to give us parents some great ideas on things to make.

(Don't forget to always supervise your children on ALL activities & especially ones that call for small pieces or strings, glues or other ingestible liquids, things that need cutting, or things that need heat, like cooking or ironing.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

COOL NEW ADDITION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Calgary Zoo just had another baby. Carrie the Giraffe gave birth Tuesday July 28th to a little, tall baby girl. I believe she is already over 5-feet tall. They needed to ensure there was lots of extra bedding as Giraffes give birth standing up and it is a long way down for the newborn to drop. Everyone is fine and the new little girl was walking within the first few tries of testing out her new feet. Be sure to stop by and congratulate the new, proud momma. As they say at the Calgary Zoo "littler is cuter," so go visit her, the baby gorilla, and the baby elephant before they all grow up.

Calgary Zoo's littlest elephant is a year old so you'll see how much she has grown.
