Need a Unique Skirt
Start a New Family Tradition

Here is a way to make your mark every Christmas.

Cut a tree skirt out of washable felt, canvas or other material.
Each year have the children, guests sign it, trace their fingers, feet or have the children make a drawing.
Use paint or permanent markers. You could even embroider over the lines so they don't ever disappear.

Great way to watch the kids grow up.

Fun Craft
Glitter Globes

Do you remember how amazing these globes where when you were a child.
My daughter spends hours turning it upside down, winding it up and watching the snow fall. So we found a easy way for you to make one this holiday. For when the kids get bored.

Supplies: small jars with lids, small christmas toys and figurines, waterproof glue, glitter, baby oil.
Directions:
Wash and dry the jar
Glue the toys to the inside of jar lid to create the "scene" - let it dry
Fill jar with baby oil, leaving one inch at top. Add glitter, let settle.
Apply glue to threads of lid, lower onto jar, and screw tightly
Let Dry... Give it a shake and swirl

The Christmas L's
Don't Panic

If businesses are about
Location, Location, Location,
then Christmas must be about
Lists, Lists, Lists

I'm not sure about you but at this time of year I feel a bit more stress, am overwhelmed and up late every night getting it all done.
This year is no different.

I find myself making more LISTS at this time of year than any other.
I have to make a list for my lists, if you can believe it.

Yes, this time of year needs lists to make sure evereything gets checked off, done and not forgotten.

So when does the holiday start?
When do we get to enjoy the "Holiday Feeling"?

If you're not careful managing the lists can be so stressful it feels like you need a holiday from the holiday.

So here are a few ideas for you to allow yourself to ENJOY the HOLIDAYS.

  1. Christmas Lights - be sure to spontaneously go drive around and check out the Christmas Lights. Kids get so excited by the homes dressed up, allow yourself to see the beauty in the lights.
  2. Five Minutes of FUN. - Everyday allow yourself to be goofy, play games, sign songs, dance or put your Santa Hat on.
  3. Watch one Holiday Video WITH the family. The great thing about being a parent is that we get to be kids again with our kids. The Holiday shows are sure to bring back memories that you can share with your kids.
  4. SUPRISE Someone - Try to sup rise someone each day, it can be with a phone call, a quick visit, a note of Thanks or Hello. What could you do to make someone else's Day. You know I have been answering my Phone with
  5. "How can I Improve Your Day" for many years now and it amazes me at the feedback and sometimes a true, here's what I can do to help someone and boy do I feel good knowing I have been able to help. Even if it's just to listen.
  6. Empty Feeling? - If you have experienced a loss of a family member, friend, colleague or even as we did a pet this year. I was told to continue our tradition with that person or in our case our pet and give the gift away to someone who is in need. So for instance, if you usually buy a gift for that person, go out and put all the effort you always do into buying that gift. Think about what that person might be wishing for christmas and then give the gift you purchased for them away to a charity that can forward the gift to someone who does need you heart felt gift. We did that for our pet and the kids felt great about donating it to the Human Society.
  7. Don't try to be perfect, it's okay not to get everything done on your lists. No one will pro bally even know you missed the Mistletoe. Getting caught up in the moment with family is way more important than the commercialization of Christmas

I hope that helps you and your LISTS. I would love to hear how you cope with Christmas, New Year's or just Family.

So pop me a quick note and make me laugh. Kimberly@MomsDadsAndKids.com I know we can all learn from each other.

And you send me your thoughts you will be entered to win Passes to See WILD OCEAN as mentioned below so share your Christmas stories here Kimberly@MomsDadsAndKids.com

Happy Holidays

If you have a better one, I want to know about it. I think this might be the best Santa Surprise I have EVER SEEN.

Volunteers Needed

There are so many Charities in Albert needing help. I can't even start to list them all. I did get this request and hope you find a way to help a charity that you love. You are welcome to share those with me if you like.

The Friends of the Y are organizing a casino to raise funds for the YWCA Edmonton and they need our help. Many individuals have already volunteered their time, however more helpers are needed:

Argyll Casino
7055 Argyll Road

December 23 7 p.m. - 2:30 a.m.
December 24 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The money raised supports all the programs that the YWCA Edmonton delivers to our community. This is a great way to give to those women in our community who need a little extra love this holiday season. It doesn’t cost a thing – just a little gift of your time that will go a long way to support women and their families in our community.
Please contact me asap to let me know if you are available to volunteer. And if you could please pass this on to your networks and contact we would greatly appreciate it. I know it’s a difficult time to commit to however the more we give the more we receive this holiday season!
