My name is Kimberly and I’m the Founder and Publisher of Moms, Dads and Kids. – The Little Black Book for Busy Families™. I’m a mom with 2 fabulously active kids (I call them my exercise program! My story? I went from being a busy career minded woman to being a busy mom.
I loved it!
My first year on maternity leave I was trying to do as much with my family as I possibly could. But I became frustrated that I couldn’t think of new ideas or didn’t have time to find new cool things or places to go. I also got frustrated when I would try to get errands or shopping done. As most of you know it’s never a quick trip – anywhere!
I must admit – I got into a comfort zone in the new places I would attempt going to, and started to visit the same ones over & over. I knew I could at least get through the aisles with a stroller, or they had a bathroom (clean) close or features that just made my life easier. But if I went to a different part of the city or travelled to Calgary – I was LOST!
So this evolving resource guide for every busy mom or dad became my mission. I started asking other moms and found it was a pet peeve of more than just me. (enter our photo contest and share your experiences)
I went to trade shows, always came home with an enormous bag of pamphlets, never to be read again, or could never find the one I wanted. I took them all – just in case. The one I would need was never in my car when I wanted to go there. When I did take them in my car, it became cluttered with paper, stepped on by wet muddy feet prints – big and small.
So by having all the Alberta Family friendly businesses in one small and convenient place I knew I would never have to worry that I might miss something. I wanted to expand my comfort zone and find new and cool places to go with my family and friends.
As much as we think life doesn’t change; it really does and I love that! I love what my children add to my life, I get to go to all these cool places and pretend I’m a kid again. But I still like good food, entertainment and nice places to visit as well as clean bathrooms, that are designed with families in mind.
By launching this web site and The Little Black Book for Busy Families™ I have found some amazing new experiences across Alberta that I never knew existed before and I have lived in Alberta for over 30 years!
