Mother's Day is celebrated to honour all mothers and express gratitude for the responsibility they bear in bringing up a child (yes, the same goes for Fathers on Father's Day). Most countries including US, Australia, Canada and India celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May. Mother's Day came into being due to the efforts made by Ms. Julia Ward Howe and Ms. Anna Jarvis. The Resolution for having a dedicated Mother's Day was signed by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 8, 1914. Since then, people across the world have been celebrating Mother's Day with joy and devotion.
Thank you to all of our wonderful and kind Mothers who have done their best to raise us well. Here is a favorite poem of mine that I wanted to share with you.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's alright to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I looked at you and wanted to say, 'Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'

Here is an article that I wrote sometime ago. I thought Mother's Day was a fitting time to share it with you. I would love your comments if you would like to share them.
Some days I think I my kids will drive me crazy. Some days I wonder what I was thinking to have two of them. Maybe we should have stuck with four legs and fur. And then there are days where they make you laugh like I haven’t laughed in years. They ask questions to which I just don’t have the answer, or haven’t even previously given thought. And to those people who said sales people aren’t born, I say...children under the age of 10 should win Top Sales Person of the Year awards.
But how do you truly fall back in love with your children? Especially when it seems like we can’t find enough time to spend with them...or even on ourselves or our spouses. When I’m driving from lessons to games, to the grocery store and running errands...oh, and don’t forget to include work...it all becomes a bit of a haze.
Last week while driving to yet another meeting, I tuned in to my favourite station ......... click here to continue reading. (pdf)
