CHRISTMAS CARDS? Have you done yours yet...
...or are they sitting by the Big Chair waiting to magically write themselves?

Do you have writers block and a very long list of friends, family, and co-workers to whom you need send cards to?

Why not make your Christmas communications easy this year. Here are some ideas to make your cards and letters fun:

* Do it together as a family: One person can stick your return sticker on the envelope, one can write the recipient's address, together come up with a wish for that person or family, and one person writes it inside the card. Write it a personal message like this... "This year, Auntie Greta, our family wishes you…" Then everyone can sign the card...one person puts it in the envelope, and one person can put the stamp on and...voila...done!

* Christmas Quiz: When writing the cards, have each family member think of one favorite thing that happened this year and write it like jeopardy game. What movie did Sally watch 5 times this year? Or what was baby's Sam’s first word? Then print the answer upside down on the back of the card.

* Photo Time: You can take a photo of the family on Christmas Day by the tree or with the family holding a banner up that says “Merry Christmas" or "All the Best from the Smith’s.” And here is the cool thing about this one, if you don’t get your cards sent before Christmas, you can send them after by saying, "We took this photo on Christmas Day so we could share our joy with you. Love the Smith’s".

* The Christmas Newsletter? Yes, it’s quicker. Be sure to personalize it by adding even a small hand written note at the bottom. Keep the letter short. (how many do you personally read?) Be generous with your thoughts and wishes for a Happy New Year, and try a "Top Ten Favourites by the Smith’s" list instead of listing everything you did through the whole year for each child or family member. Why not make the kids write the letter, that gets you off the hook. Have the kids write their "highlight of the year"...You might even learn something.

Start a new Tradition this Year

A Christmas Journal!

Santa readingDo you keep a personal journal? Then you know it’s a way to preserve your daily or weekly memories or accomplishments. So why not start a new family tradition with a Christmas Journal?

It’s a great way to keep memories from year to year and you can track the weather, visitors, events, trips and memorable gifts. Let everyone write a note or funny story about the "dog that ate the Christmas turkey" and be sure to take a picture every Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and put it in the book. Buy a special book and give it to the Family this year and pack it away with all your Christmas Ornaments. Every year you can re-read the past Christmas events and smile. It will help us all remember vividly and provide a few laughs for years to come and from generation to generation. It is a great way to start a new tradition of which everyone can be a part.

If you have any ideas or family traditions, tips or ideas that you would like to share with us, please email Sharon.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

THANK YOU for being a part of our website, subscribers’, advertisers and book this year.

We have met so many great families, been to some amazing places and learned so much about Alberta and what it has to offer. Be safe out there while you’re getting those last minutes Christmas errands wrapped up.

Best Wishes from all of us at Moms, Dads and Kids!
